How to Use Phentermine Effectively for Weight Loss
Phentermine is a very common weight loss drug around the world. How effective is it in practice? Do
you know how to take it? Hi everyone, I'm Dr. Brian Yeung, a naturopathic doctor in Toronto.
Although phentermine is not used in Canada, but outside of Canada, it seems to be very widely used. Experience from all over the world using it during weight loss so from all their experiences. Come on,
I'm here to shed some light on what you can expect to experience. What you should know if you try it for yourself Phentermine is a drug known by many brand
names such as Adipex, Duromine, Fastin, Lomaira, etc. This is an amphetamine-like stimulant
with appetite-suppressing properties. The date it was approved for weight loss
dates back to 1959, and it has a long history of use. Compared with other weight loss drugs, it is relatively safe and effective. Since the emergence of generic drugs, it is relatively cheaper, which
helps it become more popular around the world.
Popular because it is one of the most commonly used weight loss drugs today How does it work? Phentermine can have an appetite-suppressing effect similar to that of amphetamine. Amphetamine stimulants work by stimulating the sympathetic nervous system, also known as the fight or flight nervous system. This system is usually activated at certain times during acute stress.
And prime your body to prepare your muscles for fight or flight action. It also shuts down your body's unnecessary systems
like your digestive system. This shuts down your appetite. The stimulant effects of phentermine also help you feel more alert, allowing you to stay more physically active
and burn more fat. Side effects of phentermine are associated with many stimulants. side effects
such as headache, dizziness, tingling in hands and feet, and heart palpitations. You should have regular check-ups with a clinician to
check your heart rate and blood pressure to make sure you are not causing more serious cardiovascular problems.
If you do have any cardiovascular problems,
such as a history of stroke, phentermine may not be suitable for you. It can exacerbate certain cardiovascular problems. Some people have anxiety, so those with anxiety or mood disorders need to let their doctor know to see if it's appropriate. Sleep problems like insomnia seem to be common, so most people take it earlier in the day, like in the morning, to reduce Sleep problems Gastrointestinal problems are also common, such as nausea, constipation, or stomach pain.
In addition to suppressing your appetite,
it may change the texture of certain foods, making them taste weird or different,
or cause your mouth to be very dry. It also interacts with many other drugs,
especially stimulants or mood-stimulating drugs. Let your prescriber know if you take other medications. Will it be addictive? Phentermine is considered a stimulant similar to amphetamine. Amphetamine stimulants have a long history
of having addictive qualities, and long-term use can increase a person's dependence and cravings. Interestingly, phentermine's addictive properties do not appear to be as strong as those of other amphetamines with
long-term use. Patients with phentermine are less likely to become addicted than patients with other amphetamines
such as Adderall. So the research shows that although there is a potential risk of addiction, it is less addictive than other amphetamines.
In my experience, there is definitely an addiction
to phentermine ( People who are addicted to phentermine have reported it is related to feeling
more energetic, feeling great while taking the drug and having to continue taking the drug to avoid weight regain. Stopping the drug can cause uncomfortable headaches and fatigue. Many people regain weight, especially those who take large doses for a long time. Can I drink alcohol while taking it? No. Alcohol can make some negative effects worse, especially if you have cardiovascular problems. Another concern is that users may also become addicted to alcohol. Phentermine is a stimulant and alcohol is a depressant.
Both have opposite effects and people who use them may need to consume more to achieve the same effect. This means these patients will need to
take larger and larger doses over time because both can be addictive and can make it difficult to quit both at the same time.
Can I have coffee? It is generally recommended that you try not to take any other stimulants, although stimulant drugs such as fluoxetine or stimulant supplements such as ginseng, or stimulant foods
such as the highly caffeinated energy drink phentermine is already a stimulant. Plus more stimulation
may worsen stimulant-related side effects like anxiety, irritability, and insomnia. From a practical perspective, it is prudent to avoid excessive caffeine intake, such as RedBull, but a cup of regular coffee or espresso is
unlikely to cause too many problems in most people.
Is it effective? Phentermine appears to be most effective for short-term weight loss; many people who use it can expect to lose 5-10% of their body weight within a few months. The problem, however, is that this weight loss is often not sustainable. In my experience, some patients find that phentermine is not working for them, and after only a few weeks, the weight loss plateaus, and in some cases cases rebound. Especially when proper weight loss eating habits have not been developed its appetite suppressing effect does tend to
diminish rapidly over time. Additionally, some patients who initially start using
excessive appetite suppression will force themselves to eat almost nothing
to make their diet lose weight faster. Unfortunately, this strategy is somewhat short-sighted.
Extreme dieting can increase the risk of weight gain or regaining it later, especially when phentermine begins to be ineffective.
What to Expect Phentermine (phentermine) may be an option to help support your weight loss as it can produce results fairly quickly. However, please know that These effects on your appetite and weight are
strongest in the first few weeks and may become less effective over time. Many people increase their dose to counteract this, which only delays the period of phentermine's effectiveness. Additionally, increasing the dose increases the risk of addiction, making it harder for you to eventually stop taking it. Also, if you start taking phentermine and don't lose weight, taking a higher dose is unlikely to help. Phentermine Is Common Outside of Canada Generic phentermine is relatively inexpensive compared to other weight loss medications. It is for these reasons that
some people start taking it and end up taking it for years even though it no longer helps them lose weight.
So if you do decide to use phentermine
try using it as a temporary tool intending to let your weight loss diet take over early on you can also use it as needed e.g. on vacation and
off afterwards. When taking phentermine, develop A proper weight loss diet is essential. If not, rebound weight gain is almost certain.
